Welcome to the 2018/19 season of Waterloo Regional Synchronized Swim Club. We look forward to another exciting year with new and returning coaches.
Synchronized Swimming is both a unique and challenging sport. While developing a high level of physical fitness, the athlete also acquires grace, poise, confidence and pride. The girls develop a team camaraderie and club spirit as they gain experience throughout the competitive program. They have tremendous pride in participating in a sport that is beautiful to watch. As a synchronized swimmer, the athlete learns respect, cooperation, commitment and above all, good sportsmanship. Waterloo Synchro’s competitive program is based on Synchro Canada ‘s competitive structure which is designed around the Canada Sport Centres’ Long-term Athlete Development (LTAD) Training to Train and Training to Compete Stages.
Although previous synchro experience is not necessary, a commitment to the sport is required of all swimmers and parents joining this program.
Each member of our Provincial programs will be placed on an age appropriate team. Swimmers may be chosen to swim in a solo or a duet with a swimmer within their age group. Solo and duet practices are one hour per week. For all extra routines, the final selection is determined by the Head Coach. There is an additional fee for duets.
Competitions for the season will be determined once teams are divided. Teams will have a minimum of 4 competitions (3 for 10U). Swimmers in the provincial age-group system will compete at the Waterloo Invitational Routine Meet (January – WLU), West Regionals (Burlington), Hilton Invitational (11-12 & 13-15) (Etobicoke). Lastly, 10U and 12U swimmers will also have the opportunity to attend the 12U Trillium Championships in May (Etobicoke). Please see the Synchro Ontario website for a complete list of competitions and dates.
All Provincial programs begin September 8th, 2018. If you are interested in joining our Provincial teams in the 2018/2019 season please contact us for information: firstname.lastname@example.org
